Default Thud from my back end

The mechanic told me something about tie rods or something..but when I hit a sharp bump in the road I hear a thud sound coming from the passenger side rear tire...could that be simply the shocks or tie rod or both? I don't know much about the tires so I am not sure what would be causing this thud sound when I go over bumps. Thanks Guys!

Jack the car up and check the shocks and the swing arms. The only way you're going to learn is to get in there look, fiddle, inspect, test, repair and replace.

You could have anything from a loose wheel, chassis bushings that are damaged or loose, a shock that is bad, bolts loose, etc.

if your rear shocks are wet (and not from the weather) then they need to be replaced that'* the quickest way to tell on those considering they are air over fluid

Could have been anything. I would still check. Look at the sway bar ends. I turned a corner months ago and heard a loud thud from the right front. A few months later I found I snapped a bushing. Easy fix.

ive had a un findable thud that later became a rattle which sounded just like the thud just multiple times..

everytime i jacked the car up the rear control arm would fully extend down putting pressure on the ball socket forcing the ball in the socket of the tie rod outter end to not budge making it seem to be fine as there was no play while off the ground. now it is to the point that i can almost pull it apart..

back your car onto car ramps and do a wiggle check of your suspension adjustment links (tie rods)

Well it'* been confirmed it is actually the shocks themselves the little cover for the air ride is ripped and torn off so new shocks are in order for the rear end. Just need the cash to be able to do it.

Check the subframe mounts. I had the same problem and the rubber isolators are bad...I tightened up the bolts and it went away, but they still need to be changed. I'll wait.
