I believe that is for your HVAC system. And yes, a vacuum leak will cause your car to sputter.

Well, that'* a older car. Your best bet will be a local salvage yard. There is a chance someone is parting out a car in the for sale section. Have you looked there? You can also try Auto Parts Fast at RockAuto and see if they have it there.

Is it the vacuum line that'* bad, or is it the nipple on the box? You could possible repair it. If it'* the line you can get generic vacuum lines at auto parts stores. If the nipple is broken off, perhaps you can get a metal replacement nipple, drill out the broken nipple and thread in a new one.

Then what I would do is go to your local parts store and see if they have screw in nipples. You may be able to just twist that in the hole, might need to drill it out. Put a small dab of silicone on the outside to seal it, and all should be good, and far cheaper fix then buying a new box.
