Does anybody know of any good methods for removing ciggarette smell from a vehicles interior? I can only come up with airfresheners.

First remember that the smell sticks to every surface inside the car, so you would have to clean them all. Im talking about seats, carpet, roof, plastics, the seat belsts, eaven the glass will probabli have some kind of smell.
So to be shure that you cover everything, I would clean the interior in sections. I would use a cleaning detergent like "Tuff Stuff" thats the one I use.
lets say you are going to clean a door. Then spray everything, glass plastics, eaven the switches (not to much on those). let it sit for like 30 seconds, then scrub everything with a wet brush, then use a chamoise to suck out the dirty water. (I bet it will come out gray, that is the tar.) after that part is dry use a towel soked in alcohol, & then put some armorall type material that has UV protection. (for the plastics only) You might want to spray some Fabrice or somthing like that on the carpet, seats, & seatbelts. (seatbelts are important because I bet that alot of the smell is coming out of them.)

I have always found Febreeze does wonders in eating odors. I see you have an '05 SS Impala though, and don't recommend spraying that on anything vinyl/plastic or leather (seats). It will be good for the carpeting/headliner though.

There is something we did as apartment managers. The carpet cleaner place has a ozone machine. They left it in the empty apartment of a smoker for a day. They next day you couldn't tell there was a smoker in there. It sucked the odor out.
It was $50 dollars to do that.
Maybe there is something like that for vehicles.

Or, clean EVERY surface and Febreeze it.

Several years ago I bought a car that was owned by a chain smoker. I took it to a detailer that cleaned everything inside completly (so he said). It helped a bit but the smell was still there. We tried everything including an ozone machine. Nothing ever got rid of the stink permenently. We ended up selling the car after 8 months and buying the Bonneville.

Use White Vinegar in a 13x9 GLASS cake pan overnight or longer (12-24 hrs).\
Open all the windows after this time period to air out...but it should't be too bad.

Sprinkle baking soda into your carpet and vaccume out.

Mkae sure carpet is dry, then use baking soda.

Use like two whole boxes; work it into the whole carpet with a small whisk broom. And fill the ashtray with some, too.

Let it all stay a few days, then vacuum well.

Meanwhile, use Febreeze on all the other fabric (seats, door panels, roof liner).

Replace the headliner, maybe even the backing behind it, i'd also clean behind all of the driver'* side plastic stuff by that window, like A and B pillar trim pieces, handles, etc..

If you can air it out TONS as well, that can help too.
