Default Paint Peeling on a 2005 Bonneville

Is there a manufactuer defect for 2000+ Gm vehicles for peeling paint. I know there was one about seven years ago. My 36,000 mile warranty is over and I am looking for any info that will make the cpmpany pay for the touch up.

Thanks

not that I've heard of. our only paint issue is paint blisters on the front edge of the hoods.

did you buy it new or used? if used Im thinking she may have been in an accident and repainted.

where is the peeling?

Yeah, most likely, accident. Good way to tell is check the super inconspicuous areas, usually around sharp edges or around an accessory that had to be taped off...look for slight color mismatch or chipping in those areas.

I have yet to see a GM 2000+ car come to the shop for pealing paint off the bumper( I paint at a GM dealer) its most likely a replacement bumper that wasnt painted right after an accident. nothing you can do but have it takent to a shop to have it repainted.

and if you've owned the car from new, that doesn't mean it wasnt replaced. I've painted a few cars before being sold that where either lot damaged or transite damaged.

And most places won't charge too much for a bumper repaint job. I got my front bumper repainted perfectly for $100.

I had a weird issue with the paint peeling off of the gutters that run along the sides of the roof (2003 SLE). Thought maybe there was a rubber seal in there which was removed when I had the windshield replaced, but the dealer says the gutters are supposed to be empty. Had to have them repainted for $125 (out of warranty).

I was looking at $300 for a repaint of mine (cheapest quote)..but it requires sanding/prepwork. Plastic is difficult to paint and have it last.

That is pretty cheap. I wouldn't count on getting it done that cheaply at other shops.
