new clutch ?93 se
So when i make a turn the RPMs jump to 3-4k but my speed stays at 20-30 mph, . engine revs but i dont accelerate as fast as i should for it reving that high. 148k miles, original parts.
also has history of not shifting into gear from park to drive in winter, so i usualy have to go into 1 then back into drive to engage.
is this a clutch issue or something bigger, what might new clutch run me?
i have also on occoasion heard a loud shuddering type of sound upon turning like dundun dun dun
just cheked tran fluid its pretty low, red, slight burnt smell. added a quart, reading on dipstick did not move up though going to drive more 2morrow and will check again.

Your car does not have a "clutch" like a manual transmission. It does have clutch packs inside the transmission that can slip if they become wore out or damaged, but at that point you will need a rebuild.
I would say to fill your trans fluid up to the recommended level and try it.
When you turn and your trans slips like you describe, that is classic of being low on trans fluid.
Try that and then let us know what happens, just don' t over fill

sounds like you were just drastically low on trans fluid.
you added 2 quarts? your trans definately did not like that.
you probably fixed the problem for now after getting the level back to where it should be. however, keep an eye on it, that fluid is going somewhere! Do you have any red puddles in your driveway? Put some white pieces of paper under your car for a few nights and see what you find.

Thanks..
A 4T60 with 148K on it is amazing. In fact many here find that they need to be rebuilt around 100K, especially if it'* a supercharged car. The differential and clutches take quite the beating.
Although there are also many exceptions to the rule and if the car was treated well, less wear occurred.
