Default Need help on starter remove/install. ('89 Caprice Brougham)

Ok, my mom finally got a car, it'* a '89 Caprice Brougham with the 305 TBI. Unfortunantely, it needs a starter before she can bring it home to her house, so she has asked me to do it. What am I in for? Could it just be a bad solenoid? If anyone has any experience with these, share some tips with me, as I have never done a RWD starter. Thanks.

I was told that I have to drop the exhaust to get to the starter? :?

Bump this to the top. I am gonna attempt to try to start it by shorting the terminals, but which ones do I short?

Also still need info on install/removal in case I need to do that.

Super simple, other than the starter being heavy as hell.... Should be two bolts on the bottom holding it to the car, and two nuts for the wires. Pretty much standard GM starter layout. Don't know what sizes, though, but a $20 Walmart socket/box wrench set should have everything you need

I can't remeber, either, if the solenoid is a seperate item or if it'* an all-in-one starter. See if www.autozone.com has a repair guide (free and online) for the car.

Well, the starter is fine. They went over and whacked on the solenoid, and it fired right up. So it is now at her house. It seems that there was a wire loose as after he tightened all the connections up, its starts up everytime now.
