Default Need help, Mom'* Caprice died and won't start.

Ok here'* scoop. She was driving, she told me it started sputtering, and just died out of nowhere. She rolled off to the side of the road. Only thing she has told me is that it is getting spark (she checked), she can smell gas under the air cleaner lid (which MAY be residual fumes), and there was no CEL. Any ideas? I am taking the scantool over there to check later on, so some suggestions to check anything would be great. Thanks.

BTW it is a '89 Caprice Brougham LS with the 305 TBI, it has 110k.

It'* BAAAAAAAAAACK! Apparently the coil wire wasn't the problem. When you crank it, it sputters and tries to start, but won't. No codes are present. Anyone know if those have a place to check fuel pressure?

I'd bet on the in tank fuel pump. Smack the fuel tank a few times with a rubber hammer and see if it starts. If so, change out the pump.

Here on the wet coast, I'd check the fuel pump fuse first, they tend to corrode in our damp climate.
