Default New Project : Uncharted territory

Well I drank too much beer last night with my best friend, and we devised a plan for my Bonneville parts car. It might not work, but I already have most of the big parts in my collection.

RWD conversion, 350, 700r4, posi rear end from a camaro or s10 (I have both, so whatever fits)

It started out as a "what if we did this" conversation, but quickly escalated into, when do we start. It might not work, but if it doesn't I'll just crush the car like I was originally planning. BTW - The goal here is not to go really fast, it'* only to see if we can do it, we have built about 5 cars together now, so it MIGHT happen.

The only thing we are still on the fence about is rear suspension, 4 link or just run leaf springs. I want to run simple leaf springs, but he want to build a 4 link rear like we did in his Mustang (with a chevy 350).

You may have to fab the tunnel for the driveshaft. Keep that in mind.

Also, when deciding on the suspension for the rear, try to keep in mind the subframe may dictate what you do.

Yeah the subframe is the deciding factor.

As for the floor, it looks like I'll have to make a doghouse for the tranny, and also a driveshaft tunnel. The place I buy my mini truck parts from makes those for you, all you have to do is send them measurments and $29 and they send you the sheetmetal.

It took me a year to do my L67 swap, you should expect to see this on the road in about 5 :P My gf won't let me bring another non running car into the driveway until my Bonneville pulls out under it'* own power, looks like I need to go buy a new battery

Or the GN powered RWD 97+ GP, or the North* powered Pre 97 GP, or the AWD G8, or if you can find it theres a RWD 97+ GP somewhere south of the border.

The N* old body GTP is my inspiration.

At a party this weekend, I started talking about it. My buddy donated a 4 link and weld on mounting tabs, he said leaf springs would be too easy. Found good mounting points for everything except for the tranny crossmember that I will have to fabricate.

The V8 RWD conversion has been done, but good luck getting information out of the cheating bastard that ripped off a few members.
