use a GTO rear sub frame if you can get one. That'* what GM used. I missed my chance to get one for $550 with diff, but it should be easiest to fit.

Or why not a Pontiac V8?

UPDATE:

Still gathering parts, but this weekend I scored some good stuff for free. I got a posi rear end from a bubble Caprice, the gear ratio sucks, gonna have to change it. I also got a set of new Caddy CTS wheels, 17s with literally 0 miles on them.
