Default Installing 1.9 Modified - HELP!

Hello, today I decided to install my 1.9 MOD rockers from ZZP.
Didn't go so well. I took the stock rockers off without a problem, and the stock plate, and went to install the 1.9s. I got them in, torqued them and put the valve cover on only to find out that the valve cover does not line up how it did when I took it off. I still got them on, but it was extremely tight - I know they shouldn't be that close to the plastic on the valve cover. I started bonne up and it sounded like hellfire - I shut the car off right away. Wtf.
I took the valve cover off again, and made sure the rockers were torqued correctly - which they were, but then I realized that both of the end rockers were on an angle, almost like the outside of the rocker did not catch the plate. One of the outside rockers damaged the outside of the plate (It seems that is where the rocker should be sitting).
So I seen this, and decided to put the stock ones back in. Took 1.9s out, put stock rockers back in, torqued everything and put valve covers back on - only to find out that the valve cover does not line up like what had happened with the 1.9s! Now I am in complete WTF, but manage to get the bolts in.
I go to start her up - Same **** as 1.9s. ****. I go to pull the valve cover off - one of the valve cover bolts broke off in the head
I just quit what I was doing, but maybe I shouldn't have touched the bonne today.
I REALLY need advice on what is going on. It'* friday night and I have plans to be at the track on sunday. Rockers or no rockers, I really don't want to take the SHO.
So please help, any input is appreciated.

Nah, it was 2 simple things. Spark plug wires crossed, wire loom obstructing the valve cover. All fixed.
Now to get my Hogan DP and cat cut, and my 3.3 on and scan!
As for the first time working on cars... far from it I worked in a shop for 2 years, and never had a problem like this.
I guess it was because working on cars with no sleep = retardation

BTW, i'm Rob from Regina, Saskatchewan. I'm a big fan of sleepers, I have owned a 86 Omni GLH, 2 89 Taurus SHOs, 1 92 SHO (all 5 spd), 1 87 Turbo lancer, Turbo sprint and a Turbo caravan.
So far I have the W-body 2 peice intake, 3.4/3.3/3.2 (3.3 and 3.2 for future use), 104'*, 180* drilled, ZZP PCM, 1.9 Rockers and hopefully downpipe and cat cut tomorrow.
Last time at the track I ran a 14.8 with intake/3.4/pcm/plugs/thermo with a shitty 2.31 60ft. I can't seem to launch this car, maybe because it'* my first auto.... ever
I also dynoed at 221hp, 289 lb/ft with the mods I had at the track.
Since it was +30 and humid that day, and on sunday it should be around 15* and they are using traction compound, with my 1.9s and downpipe/cat cut, i'm hoping for a 14.5 with the 3.3 and race gas.
BTW I have been lurking on this site for about 2 months.
I still don't know this : Do I have to take the ABS sensor off of the front hubs when racing? Also, what do people do to adjust the rear height of the car and what tire pressures do they run? I am running stock 235/55/17s.
Thanks for the response, anyways.

You'll need to pull the wheel speed sensors to disable some torque management for your launch (traction control will hold you back) and trick the rear ELC up. Each one of those can buy you about a half a tenth on your 60' time. Each tenth on the 60 is 2 tenths on the ET.

You'll probably also want a PCM to take full advantage of your mods. The two most popular here are the INTENSE and the DHP.

Ya sometimes that'* how mods go even with experienced gearheads.

Hi Rob from Regina and welcome fellow Canuk to the forum.

I have a lot of respect for the 5 speed SHO'*. My good buddy has one and I know it'* fast.

Don't worry it will take a little practice to learn how to launch an automatic car.

Bill, Rob does have an aftermarket PCM....probably the DHP I first bought off of ZZP.

Your times sound about right for what I was running my first year at WCBF04 when I was running a 3.4" pulley with just CAI and Headers and with 2.3 sec 60'*.
The next year for WCBF05 I added 1.9'* and dropped to a 3.1" and got consistent 14.0 in the quarter with 2.2 sec 60'*.
My goal next year is 12'* Baby

You should be fine for pullying down to the 3.2" with your mods. Free up your exhaust a bit more. PEM'* are good but headers are much better.

Also do as Bill says with the rear air shocks. Pump them up all the way using the trunk switch then disconnect the level control sensor lever and it will stay up in the air, improving your weight transfer a bit........and it looks cool.

Disconnect the front wheel speed sensors and the parking brake sensor (if you do burnouts using the parking brake)
