Well i finally got my exhaust all fixed and the new cat on, now I can hear everything in the engine, and it sounds like the bearings are going on eiter the power steering pump or the alternator, is one more common than the other? how can I tell which one is it is? Its sounds like its comming from the top of the motor pass. side......

Remove the belt and turn each by hand. That will be the best way to know for sure. Sounds could be transmitted up due to them both being on the same bracket.

(personally I'd put $1 on the alt before the ps)

EK98'* water pump is causing noise on his. But when you spin it by hand, you can't tell. When you wobble and rock the pulley by hand, however, the problem is noticable.

You can also use a mechanics stethescope to narrow it down.

Do each of these have there own sound when they go, ie... The water pump versus the alternator?

You are best served by doing a personal analysis. Open the hood and listen carefully to the belt area. If that doesn't help, which is common, remove the serpentine belt and check each pulley, including your tensioner and/or idler pulleys by hand. As mentioned, turn them and listen and also try to wobble and rock each pulley.

The culprit will reveal itself and you will then know for sure. Otherwise you're just guessing.
