My biggest gripe with the 2000 bonneville was that the trunk release was in the glove box. I like the trunk relaese on the door where it is easy to use. My bonne is my kid hauler and I use the trunk all the time. I know it is also on the key fob but that is not as easy as the door.
Sounds petty but once you have it and it is taken away you get a bad taste and wonder what else was taken away. My 2 cents.

Trunk releases on all GM vehicles, has always been in the glovebox for security reasons. That'* why the valet key cannot open either the glovebox or the trunk. It only works the ignition and doorlock. That way you can lock valuables in the trunk and have it serviced or valet parked without fear someone invading your privacy.

It would be simple for you to rig up another trunk release or relocate the glovebox unit if you really want to.

My '83 oldsmobile had the same "feature." I guess they do that so that you can lock the glovebox and give someone the valet key. Security. I agree, I think it'* a stupid idea. A locking gas door would be a much better option My '04 doesn't have it, I think that some 00+ cars may have.

Having something like what I see Toyota'* been using for the past 20+ years would be my preferred setup.


Trunk key fob:

it works. Prevented vandals, etc from getting into the old 'yota'* trunk on one occasion. They tried to mess with the key cylinder to no avail, and couldn't get into the trunk.

Wow! Has everyone who has a bonne have (or had) a lumina too? I have a '93 lumina.

I agree, it should be in the driver door like the 96-99'*. What about the rear seat pass-through? That leaves the trunk not secure from inside the car, doesn't it?
