Default Security Light

When I turn the key to Run, without starting the car, the security light on the dash comes on, with the other lights, but I didnt think my car had a security system, since it is a base model SE. I have a video, but you need to tilt your head to see it. http://www.putfile.com/media.php?n=100_1234

Do I have a security system?

Look at your key

Called a passive security system.

You can trust me on this...I just spent all day saturday in IL By-passing Marty'*

The key cyinder has a reader in it that reads the resistance of the resistor pellet in your key. It then sends the resistance to your VATS system. From there your VATS will more or less go "Yay" or Nay". If it'* the right resistance (15 possible within 5%) the car will start and run. If the reisistance is incorrect, the VATS module will not energize the injectors, or allow power to go to the starter. The VATS NEEDS that resistance to allow it to send the power through the Starter Enable relay, and then onto the starter. Same for the injectors.

If you had keyless, you would have a lock monitor.
