Default Got my scantool today...

Just noticed a few odd things when I was scanning my car for the first time today...

The Quad Driver Module 1 would go to "BAD" anytime I touched the brake pedal. Does this mean I have a brake light out or something? I dont even have a clue what the QDM is. QDM # 2 seems to be good all the time.

The scanner also says my VATS system is bad. Isnt that the little chip thing on the key that it has to read in order to start? I have had the security light come on a few times while trying to start the car, but they are few and far in-between.

Sooo is there much to worry about and are these things very easy to fix?

Thanks for the help!

Ryan

Most likely that QDM1 when you touch the brakes is the torque converter releasing. Although I'm not positive of your year and the codes.

On my 95 QDM1 controls boost sol, tcc sol and evap purge sol. If you are in the high 30'* and tap the brakes the pcm tells the tcc to release.

He'* saying it goes "bad" ... he'* not necessarily saying it turns on his check engine light every time. (I read it that the tool says bad for a second..but no light)

Ryfly.. does it just go bad for a moment and not turn on the light or does this turn on a check engine light?

The tool says "BAD" but I have no codes and the check engine light does not come on. It does this even if im in park. The reading goes back to "OK" as soon as I let off the brake.

Ignore it. It'* a known bug in the PCM. All of the bonnevilles here do this. All 92/93, and I believe 94/95 as well, at least those using certain scantools.
