I know this one!!! Only because I was with Randy today. The hump in the front all the way under the console is for the ducting for the back seat heat/ac. They most likely continued it all the way for natural look.

How many cars have you seen w/o a hump in the backseat foot area? Plus the engineers wanted to do it for the parents. This way parents can say "keep your feet on your own side"

As far as I know, it serves two purposes.

1: Place to tuck the exhaust

2: It is typically structural. Try folding a stiff crisp dollar in half. Then fold a hump in it perpendicular to the fold line and fold again. It resists, a little.

I think Saabs & Citroens years ago had completely flat floor, no tunnel.

The pathetic Honda Civic has boasted "flat floor" for years.
