IINM, you have the 4T60 right? If so, there are actually a few shift kits offered if you don't want to replace the whole tranmission.

B&M has one (http://www.bmracing.com, PN# 70383), and i'll see if I can find any of the others that I was looking at.

4t60 E? or the reg one which is the THM440T4 tranny? Early '92s may have the 440.

As far as bolting up its the B-O-P bolt pattern. Thats Buick Oldsmobile Pontiac. That just means bolt up, not "function" haha..Any one of them should bolt up but you may run into issues with the computer depending on what you do. There is a getrag 5speed out there that'll bolt up too. If you're interested in a 5speed conversion check out some of the fiero swap places ( l67swap.com ) and see what they're using.

Other than that...You can probably look at your local shops and see if they can do a performance build. I had mine built and even an 18,000mile warranty with my engine, which is kind of wild I wasen't expecting a warranty ...Maybe check out www.levelten.com also, not sure what all they offer. A shift kit will probably do more to destroy your transmission than help it hold up as it forces it to shift harder than normal.

Has the 5=speed conversion ever been sucessfully completed on a Bonneville? Would the getrag hold up to the weight of our cars?

probably not. This isn't something just to slap together. I've seen fiero'* with a LOT of power using one so at least they can handle that aspect. as far as day to day driving in one I have no clue. Something like this would take a lot of research and a fair amount of $...if you've got the resources it'd be neat. a 5speed conversion has never been done to anyones knowledge.

What all would be involved? Obviously if it was easy people would do it, but for interest sake, what would it take? Is it mostly computer issues?
