jgs, I've wondered this myself. It'* a simple matter of finding out how much clearance we have compared to the S2. Between the engine mount and the WP pulley. All we need is a pic from the passenger side of a Series 2 shot directly on to the WP, with the engine mount to the right.

Didn't someone just check this out because of they wanted to use an electric waterpump made for a series2 on a series1?

Someone did. But whether the electric fits or not isn't the issue. The proximity of the engine mount to the WP on the Series 1 is a more critical issue. I know I don't have alot of clearance, but then again, I don't know how much bigger the ZZP pulley is.

The gasket measurements were already checked out and are the same. as for the clearance to the engine mount, I am not sure of that. I'll measure mine today if i get the chance. (If you bugg me real bad i'll probably do it quicker)
O and the wiring should be the same as well.

What I'd LOVE is a ruler laid between the WP pulley/belt face, and that mount. A pic speaks a thousand works
