I am researching a new CAT for my car and I like the ones by random technologies.

They claim I can replace mine with a 10.5" long 4" diameter metal matrix CAT that will flow more than the stock unit. Apparently they use this same CAT on a downpipe they make for the Grand Prix. (please make some for the Bonnie!!)

Anyways, I can get one of those, or I can go have a magnaflow installed. Just wondering if anyone has some experience with either product.

I talked to someone at a popular custom exhaust place in this area, and I asked them if they used stainless mig wire to weld stainless exhaust systems. Well, they said no, they just use regular steel. I happen to know that this is not the correct way to do it, and if anyone knows of a place in the Boston or southern NH area that does it right, please let me know.

I have researched this a bit and exhaust systems are usually 409 stainless steel. If I could find a small amount of MIG wire of the 409 type I might even attempt this myself.
