Expanding on this, here'* my son'* whole e-mail. Any advice we could give. Please remember, he just graduated HS, and just needs an A to B'er ----

1988 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE 4DR, good engine, rusted. $350/BO. 651-455-6584 .

1989 PONTIAC BONNEVILLE 4DR, V6 3800, auto, runs great, AC, high mi. $495. 651-353-8939 .

1989 Chev Beretta GT dig dash 214M must sell $600/BO 612/306-9658 See my website at

1990 MERCURY COUGAR Must see, must sell Sacrifice $595 M.A.A.*. 651-487-6330 .

1989 FORD ESCORT 4 cyl 5 spd, ok body, runs great, $500/BO 612-296-3947

1990 FORD TAURUS Runs great, some rust. Buy as is. $500.00 651-269-8926. .

I'd like to spend less then 600 on something that will last me at least a little while. Although I think I am willing to save up a bit longer, but if any of these sound like they are worth looking into that would be great.

I was sending this to you hoping you will know more about them then me or mom will. Maybe me and mom will check some of them out sometime in the near future.

I would say Taurus or Bonnevile'*. Both have a tendency to run out a good time even if there beat up.

Yup, already told him no way on the ones that say "Some rust". In Minnesota, that usually means "Body barely hanging on to frame"..

Those older trannies in the Bonnies ARE a bit better than the 4T60, which is a fine high-mileage trans.

Stay away from the Berretta. Unless it'* a Quad4. And it shouldn't have the Quad4 in an 89.

I'd go with the Taurus or 89 Bonneville. (even though I hate Ford).

I'd vote for the 89.
