...in my 1969 Executive. It'* used to work fine, but has been stuck at about 7/8 tank for a couple years. Occasionally it will pop up to the 'Full' mark, then drop back down to 7/8. I know the sending unit in the gas tank is a likely suspect, I've just never wanted to drop the tank (in case there is an easier solution). Any ideas?

get a new sending unit, check the ground for the sending unit, gauge could be bad but i doubt it

Suggestions on where to find the sending unit for my '69 Exec? I know Ames Performance is big on classic parts, but I couldn't find anything on their web catalog. Thanks in advance -

My 1971 LTD did the same thing and what i found out was that the float in side the tank had a pin hole in it and would fill with gas part way and stay at a certin level. Mine was and easy fix i just took it out and sodered the hole shut and all was good( the float was made of brass) i would see if you could check that first before buying a whole new unit

I suppose I should check for an easy fix like that... I just don't want to pull the gas tank off any more often than absolutely necessary! :?
