Rear Drum Brakes....

Ok... I know lots of people have done slotted rotors and stuff to the front brakes of the 92-99s. But what have people done to the rear drum brakes?
I think we can all agree that they should have been discs, but that didn't happen until 2000+.
My mechanic was fooling around w/ the idea of swapping disc brake parts from a Grand Am or Grand Prix. He'* not sure, but believes, that they might be able to mount on w/o any major overhaul.
Anyones thoughts on this?
Just so you know we haven't actually taken a close look at this yet, it was more of a brainstorming idea while we were talking on the phone.
And if we don't convert them to disc brakes, what upgrades if any do you guys do to your drums?
