I believe the "8" in 4t80 stands for V8.
The same for ours. The "6" in 4t60/65 is for V6.

it is a little on the larger side, which i guess is what drove my curiosity about it being in any h bodies...

yikes - just checked it out on the powertrain site - that sucker is 294 pounds. that'* crazy compared to rwd trannies, but such is life. for those interested, depending on torque convertor size, the 4t65 ranges from 205 lb to 248 lb (wet)

1-2 6500 rpm
2-3 6250 rpm
3-4 6000 rpm
that'* 04. earlier models were more limited on the 3/4 shift (for kicks just checked out 99 - the 3/4 is limited to 5200 rpm on the 4t65)
but knowing how much people have been able to put on a 65, i just was thinkin - man, the 4t80 could prolly handle some serious power if properly rebuilt...
