Default check engine light

Does anybody elses check engine light come on for no aparent reason? I got my car about 3 months ago and it came on a month and a half after that. I took it to a shop and they couldn't find anything wrong, said "make sure to crank the gas cap on" and took my money. They reset the light, but like 2 weeks later it came back on again. The car is running fine, the light just won't go out. Any guesses?

You may have a bad gas cap...the fuel system needs to be pressurized and if your gas cap is leaking it will send an SES. Next time its on, stop by an autozone and they will check your SES for free, (You can clear it also). That way you will know the exact error.

I'll have to do that. I've got an hour before work and after class, so I think I'll stop by today. Thanx.
