A thought for us in wintery areas. Heated mud flaps or heated wheel wells. It'* annoying having all that snow stuck in the wheel well and hanging off mud flaps, how about running wires to warm it up enough(slightly above freezing) so that the snow will melt and stay free of the tires?

Yes and rims. I've had ice on my rims and thru my tires off balance. Finally the brakes melted the ice off so it was'nt too bad.

How would you do it?

I think engine coolant gets warm enough to melt snow as you drive. Maybe run some lines through the front wheel wells. The only problem is protecting the lines

Any better ideas? Electric heating?

It could be done with lines from the tranny. Keep it cool too. Not that it would be practical or anything, but it would be cool.

For the heated mud flaps, why not just run wire through it like the rear window de-fogger? The rubber would have to be a fairly good insulator. just a thought...

Humm... That snow Ice stuck in wheel wells and all is a pess. I don't know as far as running electrical wires there since it'* exposed to road debris and or the plastic fender well material I think is too thick that if it was to be heated like a defogger. Running heat ( lines ) from tranny would be good idea.. but the tubing would be thick and may retain too much heat.. puttin a rad there may cause the platic to burn in summer.. The only feasible way I can think of that might work ( currently so far ) is to run some kinda hair dryer system ( maybe ducting from the heater vents ? ) that will heat up the fender well without actually touchin it.. but obviously be able to shut off in summer as to not burn something.. humm... I'm gettin sick of kickin all that crap off ..

I would just love it if someone would come out with a heated Wiper Blade. The Rubber Coated Snow Blades are OK. But not having to worry about Ice forming during a driving snow storm would be awesome. If hate it when I have to stop and get out of the car to break up the ice formation on the blades when it is near 0 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind blowing in your face. Yuk!!!
