Default Road Trip!!!

I just got back from a family vacation. I took my wife and four-year-old to the Black Hills of South Dakota via I-80, I-29, I-90, then on return via I-90 to Mineapolis, I-94 to home (no, my wife nixed the trip in the bonnie, she opted for the mom-mobile villager )

While on I-29 between Omaha and Souix Falls I saw two distinct Bonnevilles headed south-bound within an hour of each other. The first was done up as a NASCAR with a large number on the side (17, 23, or 27 I don't remember which) and then sponsor decals all over the sides, hood and deck lid. I remember that the paint scheme was green and black (but it was difficult to tell through all the sponsor decals). I don't follow NASCAR so I don't know who the owner was trying to emulate, but it was a clever way to distinguish his car. I remember that it was a 1994-95 SE.

The second car was a white '92-'93 SE with hood scoops. I had to look twice to make sure I wasn't just road fatigued, but there they were, big as life. Granted I was traveling North and he/she was traveling South, but they didn't look like stick-ons. The hood looked as though it was fiberglass or polycarbon because the scoops flowed seemlessly from the hood to their peaks and had a graceful line all the way back to the trailing edge of the hood, melting down as it trailed back. I didn't think the white Bonneville was the color to go with, but I suppose that if that were my car I wouldn't have hesitated installing them if I had the chance. I do know that the hood'* paint matched the rest of the car perfectly.

On a side note, I got my wife to bring home the digital camera before we left on our trip. I snapped a couple of pictures of my car for my signature box on the day we left. But alas our minivan was vandalized in the parking lot of Holiday Inn Airport #2, Minneapolis. The perps made off with over $1000 worth of personal effects, including our digital camera (it was a cheep one) along with the digital photos I was going to upload. They also smashed a window to gain enterence and damaged the paint on the door (major scratches) . The hotel claims no responsibility and refuses to reimburse us for our deductibles (about $300).

I'm rather glad I didn't take my Bonnie now!
