I have a '98 SC2 and I'm am replacing Timing Chain... I can't get the timing cover off.... the top of it is coming off, but it'* like the bottom is cemented....I've run a blade underneath it in case there is compound on it.... I've removed 15 bolts and the 4 bolts on the oil pan that also go into the cover.............. I still can get it off...... what gives?

While doing the "prying" and being very careful still the cover broke in two..... now I have to get a new cover.

That'* no fun. Did you get the sealant broke loose and the dowels lube up? I bet the dowels needed to soak a day.

Very light and slow prying shouldn't have broken it. Maybe it has been apart before and treated badly . . . ?

Maybe it can be repaired?
