Maybe that'* where the smoke is coming from. Coolant leaking from the manifold.

jwfirebird has a reputation beyond repute

like i said incredibly common 3800 issue. i had to do my upper twice. but when i first got my bonnie they didnt have the redesigned one. and its got over 200k now.

Thank you, I replaced the elbows with metal ones. Is there a web page that shows how to replace the manifolds in case I have to remove them?

Is there a preference for lower intake manifold gaskets? Found the Dorman 615-180 for 64.99

I would go with Fel Pro gaskets, they are now aluminum and seem to hold together way better than most.
