Thanks for the quick reply! It was a long day at work, so I haven't had a chance to go out and look.

I also found that page on newrockies, and that was the first place I went...but I didn't see anything at all behind the glove box; and, nothing under the passenger side resembled the picture of the tdm provided by newrockies, or had the 16 pin connector described by [them].

I'll reply once I've had a chance to dig into again...

theres a small orange wire that goes to the ign from the module, the one you use to bypass the pellet in the key, you should be able to trace that back

Well, I still haven't found the TDM. Thanks to the diagram provided by jwfirebird, I was able identify the [assumed] fuel enable pin on the PCM itself.

Still no luck though. Either the TDM and the bypass circuit are bad, or the PCM isn't recognizing the signal. What is interesting though, is: the car behaves the same with the wire (dk bl on PCM terminal A55) cut!

My next step will be to put the bypass circuit on a scope, and verify it is correctly generating the 50 and 60hz signals it is designed for. Once that is tuned, I'll also test the wire coming from the TDM and see what, if anything, it is doing.

Thanks for all of the help so far. I'll be sure to post either the fix, if found, or how much I got for it at the junk yard!

Okay, I have new information! It is running now, but with the PCM out of a 1996 Bonneville SE. I found one at a junk yard for $16, and thought I'd give it a try.

Being that mine is the SSEi, it would seem that I should either go out and buy the right PCM or, can I have this one flashed with the right programming for my car?

Get in touch with billboost, he has DHP and that can tune a 96.

BillBoost37 09-21-2011 02:21 PM

I happen to have a 96 SSEi file. If you have a local with DHP, I can post the bin for you.

Thanks Dan and Billboost. I've been out of town and busy at work, so I haven't had a chance to check in. I had contacted a local dealer, and they said they could bring me up-to-date for $90. This might be good, as one of the updates (later than my current version) is reported to improve fuel economy.

Unfortunately I'm not really in any local circles where I could ask if anybody has a DHP, but I appreciate the offer.

I hope to get it into the dealer in the next few days; we'll see how it goes.
