Pontiac solstice gxp strange noise/vibration
Hi guys, I have a 2007 solstice gxp with 30k miles. Just went to drive it yesterday and it made a weird noise when cold during the high idle. Sounds like someone tapping a wrench on metal…. Pretty much went away when the idle dropped, however there’* a strange vibration when revving/driving at certain rpm’* now following this new noise. Plugs are new. Oil is good, no strange contaminants. Here’* a video

And I am familiar with the normal hpfp noise at high idle but this is a new noise and much louder and faster clanking than the usual noise. I’ve had it for a few months and put about 2k miles on it already. Ran smooth as butter until last night when it started making that noise. Now it has a vibration at certain rpm’*, for instance, it feels rough around 2500 rpm then smooths out a bit then rough again around 4500 rpm. All started at the same time last night. Any chance the hpfp went bad with such low miles?
It sounds too slow to be like a bad follower or a major internal part. I wonder if it is something in the accessory drive system. Maybe try talking the belt off then start it and see if the noise is gone. NOTE: Don't let it run for more than one minute with no accessory belt.
