I think I had a short in my car driving along the votage dropped to about 12volts and my clock reset my voltage went back up but has been hanging around 13.8 14.1 usually at 14.4.14.8 at highway with the heater on should I be worried about the alternator?

Alternator could be on the fritz but i would personally check all the battery cables for corrosion or loose connections first..That part is free!
