Default 2005 bonneville gxp misfires

Help!! I disconnected/reconnected the drivers door module with the engine running. Now I get a p0300 random misfire and the engine sounds and runs horrible.

The car ran great before I started shooting a power window problem. Did I start this fail with the disconnect/reconnect? If so, how do I reset it?

Verify fuel pressure with a gauge.

Last time you did a tune up?

A misfire should have nothing to do with your door/window. What exactly did you do?

Agree that they're not related and check fuel pressure.

Unless its a 92-99. If the ground buss gets corroded, the fuel pump won't 'drive' as much causing low FP = misfire. Hi! First hand experience with that one.

Default Head/valves

It must be a coincidence.
Here’* where it gets interesting. Fuel pressure is good at the rail, 40psi. Pulled coils and plugs, #3 was saturated with oil. I changed all plugs and replaced the valve cover/spark plug seals on 1357. Everything looked good, no cam wear valves and springs look good on initial inspection.

After reassembly, I attempted a restart and got a horrible mechanical, metal to metal, tapping noise that I couldn’t figure out the source. So I took off the intake manifold to find the 1357 valves closed and the 2468 valves open. So I took off the 2468 valve cover and found the timing chain slacked caused by a broken tensioner guide.

After removing all the plastic pieces, I still have the problem of the valves being open with no tension on the rr arms. So I removed the intake and exhaust camshafts only to find the valves are still not returning closed with no pressure. I can push the valves down slightly but they never return to closed.

im thinking bad timing, by the tensioner fail, caused piston slap and now my valves are bent. does this sound correct? Or due to it being an interference engine will the valves still be slightly open??? Even with the cams out?

Going to attempt the laborious task of pulling the head while still in the car.

You'll need to have the heads worked and make sure the pistons are good.

Agreed. When your engine went out of time, your pistons started slapping valves and bending them. Either replace the heads, or have them repaired. Or, find a junk yard engine.

My repair if it were mine would be a decent used engine.

Once I pull the head, I assess and see if I want to make that leap
