2002 pontiac bonneville ssei supercharger whine

Hey everyone new to the site and my 02 bonneville is the first supercharger engine ive owned looking for some basic maintenance tips and how to get the whine of my engine to be a considersble amount louder. Ive heard doing a cold air intake makes some difference not sure if thats credible or not the car is completely stock at the moment

You could try a CAI. I removed the intake screen on an older bonne and just that seemed to make a difference. I don't recommend removing a good screen, mine was damaged and falling apart.

That screen is there for a reason. To provide a laminar airflow to the MAF sensor. Turbulence at the MAF causes false readings. Leave it be.

Want more wine? Like already mentioned, CAI, and a smaller pulley. Not too small or you will run into more issues..like needing a charge air cooler etc. That's about all you can do.

Saw this but didn't have a good answer. In my book supercharger whine is probably a bad sign, unless it's a hopped-up CTS-V or Corvette or something.

Then I saw the other thread https://www.gmforum.com/pontiac-168/...-issue-311575/ mentioning this thread, so I figured I'd drop a line here. I guess you could open the airbox and remove the flow tubes or something, but it would probably make it run slightly worse and yield very little whine.

As a "maintenance tip", making more whine doesn't make sense to me at least. Many supposed "cold-air induction" kits out there aren't really "cold-air induction" when it comes right down to it. My $0.02 on that is: if it is really truly CAI, it will add openings to your grille and/or hood.

I took too long to edit my previous response. My edit reason was:

Re-read original post and realigned response slightly surrounding word 24 of the original post then added maintenance tips

. . . and my edited post was to say:

For maintenance tips: Catch up all maintenance based on the manual's expectations. If you haven't, do a transmission service, NOT a flush. Oil/filter now and then every 3,000 miles, belts and hoses if you don't know their age or condition. I use full synthetic 10W30 engine oil. Add a good oil/air transmission cooler. Change supercharger oil.

So, I'm going to merge both of these threads together. Pointless to have 2 going at the same time. Matter of factly, its frowned upon here.
