Default 2001 Pontiac Bonneville SSEI engine swap or crank kit

I just bought the car, #3,2 rod bearings are gone, the rest are OK.
Want to either yank the engine and install a crank kit or swap out with another long block.
I have found plenty Buick Super Charged engines and wondering if anyone has done that swap, thinking oil pan, and some brackets are different. Really just want to know if the long blocks are compatible, they should be - may just go that route, any Infor appreciated
Thank you

The block and crank of an L36 are the same as an L67. Pistons, rods, heads, intake, etc. are different.

Swap out the entire engine. If you upgrade to supercharged, you will need the PCM configured for it. Don't fall for the 'canned tunes'. They are mostly gimmicks.

I have the Super Charged Pontiac engine - the problem I am having is finding another Pontiac engine - I can get a Buick Super Charged all day long and am trying to determine if is 100% compatible. I am thinking the long block should be the same except maybe the oil pan?
Thanks

I have the Super Charged engine - my problem is trying to find another Pontiac engine, I can get a Buick Super Charged, that'* what I am trying to determine, if that long block (Buick) is the same for the Pontiac, I am thinking it should be. Well aware Super Charged engines have different pistons/rods etc. than non.
Thanks

What Mike said ^^^^^^^

They are all GM 3800 Series 2 (Supercharged or not) derived from the Buick 3.8 .

The transaxle is a GM 4T65E.

Your chassis is a GM G platform, with various versions used for:

Buick LeSabre 00–05
Buick Park Avenue 97–05
Buick Riviera 95–99
Cadillac DeVille 00–05
Cadillac Seville 98–04
Oldsmobile Aurora 01–03
Oldsmobile Aurora 95–99
Pontiac Bonneville 00–05

you sure about that because I can think of at least a hand of things that would be potentially incompatible if he got the vastly wrong year, but nothing that couldnt be remedied by being sure to dress the one going in with the right parts from the original.

Referencing FWD engines.
Put your money where your mouth is.
