The only real use I've seen for them is with intercoolers, because then the PCV vent track is blocked off and you need to vent the gases somehow...the breather is the easiest way to do so.

Ditto. They don't look that good IMO. We have one on the GTP due to the IC, but I wouldn't put one on a car unless it needed it. If you clean it up and keep it looking nice and shiny, then they don't look that bad, but I'd still rather have a normal oil cap.
