Default What to do?

I got my Bonneville just about 6mos ago. Its a '94 SE that has 38,500 miles on it (rare find). The problem we found is that it had 25,000 of those miles put on in the first year. So over about 8 years time this cars has not gotten many miles. I was wondering what improvements I should do to help give this car new punch. (I already replaced the plugs and put engine cleaner oil in with new oil) I am a newer driver and cant afford to put more than regular fuel in and I cant affort many afftermarket parts, so what would give me the most bang for my buck?
Thanks, ~B

P.*. Ive already put 4,000 miles on it and will prolly own a Bonneville for the rest of my life....Luv um....

First I'd like to say how envious I am that you have less than 40K miles!!! But despite that, I'd change the t-stat to a 180. This is hands down a must. They run for $10-12 so it'* worth it.

Since $$ is tight you could gut the airbox, run more tubes into it to increase the amount of air and get a K&N replacement filter (will prob. run you $65-75 though) Cost me $72.
You can be creative with this part.

Taylor 8mm spark plug wires from http://www.angryducktofuracing.com are only $50 and are worth the $$. Just got my own.

Another free mod is to remove the MAF screen. Techinfo has directions I think. This has helped people out, but some have had disadvantages. As long as you don't damage it you could put it back in if it doesn't help.

Good luck and welcome to the forum. I love Bonnes too. 22 and will own one till I die.

Gaffer....you and I need to talk. My car sat in a garage for 5 years before I bought it. You're likely to see alot more problems in the very near future now that it'* being driven again. I can work up a whole list of things to change or at least watch for.

What kind of probs would he have? Man, if they aren't too serious I'd still like to be in his situation. I wouldn't mind the 38K miles.

Good luck with your ride Gaffer.

Default What could happen?

There has not been too much wrong with my engine so far. There is some extremely light rust on some parts of the frame. But what should i look out for? I think this car was driven semi-regularly, just not far...

One way to get better performance at relatively low cost is to use high octane gas. 91octane is the minimum recomended for our supercharged engine. Of course, throw a K&N air filter in there too ASAP... Have fun! SO many options to think about now!!!

GOOD ONE DRIFTER poking a funny into the thread. Definitley keep it tuned up(i.e oil changes and stuff) and put a k&n on it or a cai, fuel injector cleaner, o2 sensors. If you can't afford this then......sit on the side of the road with a cup and put cardboard pn your shirt that says please spare change. Oh yeah and make sure you steal a shopping cart from your local wal mart!!! HEHEHE
