What can I do to increase power?
Im looking to get it over 300 horse, ive got an intake so i assume thats 245-250 now? what else can i do with the smallest effect on my mpg?

a 3.4 pulley is your first mod.....since you have a 96 you are kinda behind the 8 ball so to speak...but there is some 96 develpoment...you will also need 1.9'* to get to 300 crank.....look for extensive mods to get to 300 wheel

Are you looking for 300 FWHP or 300 Crank because their is a big difference. 300 FWHP will take CAI, 1.9 rockers, PEM'* and 3" DP, Powertuner, Full IC, etc. All those mods show be easy on the gas as long as you have self control.
