Went to track tonight, new PB for SSEi & GTP!!!
The color is definately different. All my friends call it purple, and they joke about how my dad drives a purple car, and I just tell them that it contributes to the sleeper look, and they are like WTF is a sleeper?. I personally like the color, because you don't see it much, and I think it looks cool, but a lot of people don't like it.

Nice pics Shawn! I was wondering if there was some type of GP meet? I seee another GTP and a possible GTX?
Looks good Shawn, just how I remembered it! Nice track times too. I'm going in week and a half to see what my 01 SSEi will run.
And today we fixed the boost problem on the '90 Turbo Grand Prix, so I will be driving that to, at, and from MGM4 assuming I get my license by then (which shouldn't be a problem). We decided to drop the exhaust after having someone suggest maybe the cat was plugged, and without the exhaust on the car got boost!!! So we had the cat & both the mufflers replaced. The cat had fallen apart and got lodged in the exhaust pipe before the mufflers. The exhaust shop got the pieces of cat out of the pipe and put on a new cat and some turbo mufflers, leaving the stock piping on there. The car now gets the 7.5psi boost that it is supposed to get from the factory, and sounds really good. It shifts at WOT (it didn't have enough power before to hit the redline so it could shift unless you let off the gas), and it downshifts into low gears at crazy speeds. Redline is 5500 rpms and it shifts at 5700 (I hope the tach is off), if you nail the gas at 35 and it is in 3rd gear it will downshift to 2nd and then to 1st and it is at 5200rpms...and it scares the **** out of you because it is only 300rpms shy of the redline. Now its time to get a chip and really wake the car up with 11.5psi boost!!! What is really funny is how the stock chip is programmed. GM didn't want people tearing up trannies and stuff so they set up the turbo to not spool until ~20mph, so if you come to a complete stop and nail the gas as hard as you can, the tires won't even chirp, they just stick, and when you hit 20mph the front of the car lifts up and you are being pressed back into your seat, and it isn't like it is turbo lag, because there is no turbo lag with that little tiny turbo, if you are driving 20mph and you nail the gas you are pressed back in the seat immediately, so there is no lag, it is all in the chip. (The performance chips are supposed to fix that) Its actually very nice for bracket racing because then you can be really really consistant, no tire spin at all, all you have to work on is your reaction time. But damn, I know I am writing a lot, I am just very excited about how great this car runs now!!! You would never know it was only a 3.1, and that it was only 205hp!
So anyways, I will be driving that at MGM4, and my dad will have the GTP there. Anyone that wants to come can, but it costs $40 to get in, so be prepared.
That'* cool and good luck. No I wont be at MGM4 this year, just going to the local track with a buddy. Maybe next year when my cars got some more mods. I joined ILGCP and there'* some guys going down there. Mike Dye is one of the members, owner of C-YA Racing who will be there for sure.
I thought it was really funny at MGM when your mom was beating on the sunroof of your old turbo GP saying I bought you into this world, and I can take you out!!", Here this whole time I thought you were some older guy with two cars, as implied in "your" sig
Deceiving isn't it GTX? I wish my 15 year old brother was as literate, and knowledgeable as young Shawn is....my brother is to wrapped up in his own identity issues, while someone else who is 15 (or 16) has taken the time to apprentice with his father about how much fun it is to mod a vehicle.
I also think its amazing how a whole family can get so into the whole thing..ie his mother too
