from what we have learned every car is different.....and its the idle and the laminar flow that the screen provides over the MAF.....if it works for you do it...if it dosent put it back in......and you should have a good flowing CAI before attempting this....also be careful that MAF screen is really delicate and can be damaged easily

The MAF screen can be removed for minimal HP gain. Some people expierienced a rough running engine afterwards, others had no problem. Another thing to remember is that it is your last line of defense for crap that could get into the engine. If a foreign object somehow gets through the filter there will be nothing stopping it.
One time when I had my intake off I noticed a mosquitoe on the MAF screen. I have NO idea how it got there.

When I had mine out, it idled like crap, reved freer, had better low and midrange, but high range was inconsistant because flow got turbulant the faster it went. Overall it was a wash, except for idle quality.
