Before you jump down my throat and sat no, keep reading.

I m planning on using an aftermarket engine control system o run my car, no stock ECM. With that saud, I need something to control my transmission. I found something for the 465e-hd. Bolt for bolt, would it fit? Ignore all electrical since that would be retrofitted in the end and not an issue in this case.

the 60 seems to be more reliable than the 65...you may want to keep than in mind.....and the same mods are available

Would it work? Sure. Probably with lots of tuining. Shifts are dependent on engine load factors with data from sensors, not just RPM'*.

And Pat makes the point of all points. The 4T60 is more reliable, at least in stock form. Even mated to the Series 2.

why is that?

3 years of experience here and 5000 cars show that 65'* fail for the first time at a much lower mileage. Usually associated with the 4th gear failure or the over-management of the TCC.

Typical failures of the 65 require maintenance (shop) intervention at a rate nearly 3:1 over the 60, regardless of the fact that the 60'* are all older.

We've been collecting data and making observations for years now.

My concern is if I go with the 4t60e-hd, and an aftermarket engine management system, how will I control the tranny? I found a site that has a controller for the 4t65e but not the 4t60e.

You get a controller that can 'share' your OEM sensors, and you leave your shifting in the hands of the PCM, controlling spark and fuel with the aftermarket standalone system. The trans needs MAF and TPS inputs to determine engine load for shift points.

Then you have your shift points bumped by Sinister Performance in the stock PCM for trans control for $40.

Not useing a stock PCM. Going completely aftermarket now I think.
