Nice photoshop, Haro.

That's a 2.0". Courtesy of the fabulous Pulley Boys. Going on the Gen 3 supercharger on the Zilla.

A long way from the 2.85 stock, 2.5" performance diameters, eh?

VigCS 06-22-2006 12:13 AM

Custom made?

That thing is going to screeeammmmmm

SSEimatt93 06-22-2006 12:14 AM

No.

I'm adding an idler in a location there never was one before. I'll have more belt-wrap than you.

banned3800 06-22-2006 12:21 AM

Bill I'm going to send you a box of ear plugs :D

Can't hear you.

I just had a scary thought.

What if this thing turns my air filter inside-out?

dbeast420 06-22-2006 12:53 AM

That must be for the Flats ;)

OLDsman105 06-22-2006 12:57 AM

You wouldn't be the first one to do that LOL

Looks like the Canada crew may have to endure some asshandage

95naSTA 06-22-2006 01:15 AM

dude your gonna be killing your dog. lol.

Buickman104 06-22-2006 01:43 AM

Will Wren did you ever know you are my HERO!!!

This drop will also show that the M62 rotors take above 20,000 RPMs. These Superchargers/ Rotors are bulletproof!

94SLEeper 06-22-2006 02:10 AM

with that extra amount of pressure, things might start flying on you.

if only they made a diesel version of the 3800, then you could just swap the main components for that extra integrity.

Bill,

What are you doing about fuel injectors? That much smaller may mean a) you need mor fuel injector 2) you may be spinning it beyond efficiency meaning your spending more to spin it then your gaining. Just a few thoughts.

i was wondering the same things.. maybe its about time for an M90 to get mated up to the S1 motor

willwren 06-22-2006 08:24 AM

Dbeast, the two 2k's from canada will NOT be getting any asshandage. Those are 13-second club beasts.

95naSTA, Bo saw the pulley yesterday when it came. He went into hiding.

Buickman, I'd prefer not to break my SC and launch rotors through the hood at 20,000, but we'll see.

94SLEeper, the S1 L67's are built brutally tough on the bottom end. Only one member here that I know of ever chunked a piston, and that was from sheer ignorance. I've never seen someone break a S1 L67 rod.

Todd, My fuel trims are fine with the 2.2", and I still have headroom on the adjustable FPR. In addition, I get more fueling from the methanol content in my injection. This pulley is INTENDED for the track only. As far as spinning efficiency, that's one of the the things on the list to test. I need to know, so I'm taking the risk. Only one other member ever ran a 2.0", and that was on a Gen2, not a Gen3. I have some testing to do before the end of July, and in the long run, it won't run on the car if the results aren't positive. It may in fact go on and off while at the track, but I have to add another idler first.

Toasty, the M90 base is too wide. It would block my injector bosses in the LIM.

Rogue 06-22-2006 08:41 AM

You will want to monitor Injector Pulse Widths and Injector Duty Cycle (if those things are monitorable on the S1). Fuel trims are just an indication of whether the car thinks its rich or lean based on the 02 and i'm pretty sure on the S2 at least WOT locks in the last LTFT and ignores the 02 sensor.

willwren 06-22-2006 08:53 AM

The 92/93 PCM's aren't that informative. 94/95 got slightly better, but not by much.

Typically the best indicators for us dinosaurs is STFT, LTFT, and KR. If I were running out of injector at the top end, I would have KR.

I have zero KR with the 2.2" pulley (smallest ever successfully run on a Gen3) with the water/methanol running (at only a 30% meth mix). This is why I decided to test further down in diameter.

I'll do some ratio comparisons later to show the comparitive pulley sizes for S1 vs. S2 based on rotation/flow. While 2" may sound really spooky to a S2 nut, it's not really TOO far out of the realm of imagination to a S1 owner.

bonnie94ssei 06-22-2006 09:02 AM

Oooh sweet. That red looks nice.

I guess you could also install a Fuel Pressure gauge to see if FP falls off on the top end.

willwren 06-22-2006 09:32 AM

I have one. I bought it from you.

I don't think fuel pressure will be a problem. I have a Walbro255 and a 4bar adjustable FPR.

Bill for some reason you think this is red....

It looks pink to me

heh, I knew you got the regulator, forgot you bought the kit. Sounds like you have the bases covered as usual. I like the color, it screams "I'm not stock!" :)

Any HP estimates the way you are right now? with the 2.2?

One Billion horsepower.

Seriously though, the car may actually be SLOWER with the pulley. It takes more power to spin it faster, and there may not be any gains left after that and more heat created. My hope is that the water/meth injection will allow it to work. It may also be NO change from the current setup, or as little as a 5hp gain. Just something I had to try considering my zero KR issues right now.

I've got some testing to do, and I'll probably be changing pulleys at the track.

OLDsman105 06-22-2006 12:13 PM

Will you be putting it on soon?

Can you release any details on your soultion of the Belt wrap issue. That really has my attention?

willwren 06-22-2006 12:37 PM

I know WHERE the new idler pulley is going. HOW to mount it is still being worked out. 2 ways of doing it.

The idler will be pusing into the long span of belt from the SC pulley to the AC compressor. Right between them, under the ICM bracket.
