The filter Hector sends with the intake isn't bad at all. It'* built just like a K&N. This change for me was more of a brainstorm than anything. Imagine the ADTR intake cost if he included this filter with it! YIKES!

I'd say use the filter that comes with it, and when it gets dirty the first or second time, make the swap. I just wanted something that would really fill the void well. My heatshield MIGHT work with it. Since I have both filters here, I can make sure this weekend. It'll be a pretty simple design this time.

That hole is for the IAT. They place the Xterra ones there. That filter is placed with the Xterra filter charger K&N kit.

I want that filter. I figured that one was the one you guys had in mind

Yup....worked out pretty well. I was already in the hunt when Kyle and I started talking on IRC about it. We joined forces, then I found this one. We've had some phone calls, pm'* emails, and YM back and forth on this, making sure it would fit, etc.

I'll post some pics when I get the heat shield designed and fitted. Should be tomorrow sometime, Sunday at the latest.

I like it guys. When my K&N cone gets dirty I'm going to replace it with one of those x-stream filters, I've seen those before. Gotta flow even better than a regular K&N cone cause the front is filter.

89bonnie, you can get one of those to fit under the hood of your new aurora, I did. www.rsmracing.com

That hole on the filter, if used for IAT sensor, is actually a pretty useful location...but I always believe that spraying cold nitrogen oxide over the IAT is an extra benefit. Thoughts? Believes? Hate?

BTW: I did cut the intake pipe, so now the hood sensor is back in place.

Yay that SS aurora package is overpriced, but that is the INSTALLED price. Just get there intake and bored throttlebody and monting plate, ask me more about this when your ready to order, they don't list the plate, it'* an extra 100 us.

I don't know about spraying N20 over the IAT, I'm thinking not a good Idea. Way too cold over the sensor, and would probably make it flip out and start to have false readings over time, just mine opionion.
