Transmission Cooler
Okay, so I was wondering if a transmission cooler was an option for my car. I have one, but from what I have heard, they aren't an option....I know that my car wasn't stock when I got it...which means that I get to figure out what was put in it.

There should be a trans cooler built in to the radiator. If there's a external cooler then it's most likely a after market cooler.
Its external....I wonder what else this car has had done to it.....It shifts a little harder than the rest so maybe a shift kit?? I hope that's what it is... Did all SSEi's have the 4t60E HD? or whatever the transmission name is?
pre 1997 had the 4t65 and 98 on had the 4t65HD.. Correct me if im wrong
The 97 SSEi came with a 4t65E-HD
so it is standard on the ssei's though right?
The supercharged engines from 97 on came with the HD transmission. There is a very slight difference in the 97 transmission. That difference is the diff and output shaft.
Ok, that makes sense. Are they generally a little bit harder shifting than say your normal transmission?
The only reason I ask is because the car shifts hard at almost any time....we just replaced the fluid and filter and it doesn't soften up any....it isn't a neck jerk shift, although sometimes it does every once in awhile...but not often enough to be too worried I don't think.
No, they should shift the same. The HD part is a stronger diff. I would wonder if there's a shift kit. To check you would need to open the shift accumulator. There should only be one spring on each side of each piston, and no spacers. If you have any spacers or more then one spring there is a shift kit.
