Trans ????????
I have tracked down an 01 GTP GP and a 96 SSE Supercharged will these HD transmisions work in my 00 SLE. If not what will I need to look for. I know there are some tag # issues in my year, what are the differences between those tags. The tag differences are only for the HD transmissions, I've checked.

The 96 is the 4T60E(HD). It will not work. Your PCM won't know what it is.
The GTP trans is the wrong gear ratio. Any HD trans from an SSEi will also be the wrong gear ratio.

Hmmm... what if he used the GTP trans with a speedo recalibration kit? The shorter gear ratio might be kinda nice, especially if he'* looking to do some racing.

Grand Prix models generally have a shorter ratio, or so I'm told. I think their final drive is something like 3.29. That'* why you see guys like Shawn (dbtk2) who can lay down low 60' times at the drag strip, as opposed to the Bonneville which will have a slower ET but trap at a higher speed.
If the trans is a 4T65, he should be able to swap it in with minimal modifications. However, a LOT more research would need to go into the process to find out the exact gear ratios. He would probably also need some PCM work so the car knows when to shift with a different final drive.

Yah very true alot more research is needed by me, and Im on that right now. I was just wonderig if anyone has ever done that. And also if i found one out of a Bonne with a HD what are the gear ratios on them. I would prob need to get PCM reprog'd too because i have 3.05 now and i think the HD or SSE/ SSEI have lower gears.
