well i'm down here in n.c. now and my dads 97 se has a tranny problem. it has a clunking noise coming from the tranny area. i don't think it'* the tranny internals by the sound of it but i haven't crawled under it yet either. sounds like the flywheel/orque converter has become loose. before i start tearing it down is anything i need to know. any info is greatly appreciated.
thanks guys,

You didn't describe the Failure Mode (How and When). If it is just when you put it in gear or when you rev it in park, check your Motor/Trans mounts. Have someone watch the engine while you cycle through Park, Reverse, Drive, to see if they can see the motor move excessivly when you hear the bang.

ok here goes, it makes this noise when your trying to start it, while it'* idling and at rev times. tranny does go in gear but makes a god awfulest racket. thinking it might be the sarter, flywheel, torque converter or spider gears. any more ideas? needing to get some info soon i only have til the 30th to get this prob fixed.
