TOP SWAP QUESTION !!
My roommate has a 2004 */c Monte Carlo but he is putting in a turbo kit but he wants to give me his super charger setup with lower and upper intake and all that stuff but i wanted to know if i can take the top of my 99 3800 from a Buick Lesabre and turn his l67 into a l36 and vise versa with my l36. Any comments will help thanx.

Long answer is yes. you will have to swap quite a bit of things over. and then you have to get them both tuned because the compression ratios are different. your lesabre'* trans will wear out faster. but yea you can do it Its just not really advised

It can be done.. But I hear there are tuning issues that come along with it...
I would recommend getting L67 Rods and Pistons at the least and have the assembly balanced... This way you'll know the Engine will take it..
Thats not to say the L36 Rod wouldn't handle it... They are quite beefy for what they were designed for... The Pistons are good as well.. And its a floating wrist pin design, which is also good..
I'd still rather use the L67 Rods and Pistons..

well that helped some so i probley wont do it would be fun but i just paid for my trains axle to be rebuilt i dont wana have to do that again but ill see i only wana run about 5lbs of boost though and i planed on buying a a pcm and wiring harness and i figure at least $100-$200 in misc. parts and would strongy consider the diamond pistons and the l32 rods to get it going then my friend is suppused to get a dealer licence copy of the hp tuner for his shop to get it all tuned up but i guess bottom line if most of you just thinck i will kill the trans axle i wont bother and ill what and buy a ssei

it has been done Many times in the W body community, successfully
you can do the top swap, then run a ZZP 4.2" pulley, and get the reprogramd PCM, you shouldnt run into any issues

To add to what has been said:
Top swap (L67 top end on an L36 bottom end) has been done many times...though, to my knowledge, not by too many folks on this forum. ClubGP has many topswapped people on it.
And yes, be sure you get a tuner if you attempt this. And keep yourself to 5-7 psi boost max (unless you're going to intercool).

1. will i just blow my transaxle in the buick even if i keep it to low boost -NO-the non-HD trannies are the same as the HD trannies. The diff is the only major weak part
2.can i put my l36 top on the l67 -Yes.
3.can i make the l67 top work on my l36 ( i know it will need to be tuned and will need some misc parts) YES. I do beleive everything you need is below.
4. what will i need for parts from the l67
Heads
crank pulley
fuel rail
MAP sensor w/ bracket (for cleaner instal)
swap kit from a vendor
injectors
idler standoff w/pulley
coil bracket w/ pulley
LIM
TB
*/C
Vac lines
Fuel pump(most times the L36 F/P will handle the blower, however after a TS it is the first items to fail
5. what parts will i need to buy extra
Head gaskets x2
head studs/bolts x2
LIM gaskets x2
*/C gasket x1
TB gasket if you remove the TB from */C x1
swap kit x1
tuner (the base file is actually VERY simple to make)
L67 VC gaskets
L36 VC gaskets
rocker bolts x2
L67 MAP harness w/ plug from someone
To make it easier:
pull everything off the L67 first-then pull everything off the L36. Built the car getting the L36 Top first-this car will give you less probelms (PCM wise-you will need extensive tuning, but this car can run fine)
The L67 TS car will need tuning before it is driven. It can however be started.
I will recheck my info when I get home-I'm not on my PC.
