Would a beginning mechanic (me) be able to do this easily? What tools do i need and what are these washers you are talking about and where can i get them and for how much?

They are called star washers ut lock washers will do, they are about 2cents each and available anywhere. If you follow the instructions I'm sure you'll do fine.

I watched Allmachtige do his intermittently and it looked very straight forward. I may tackle this project on the weekend.

I reused the torx screws, but stripped the head on the lower one, so shes not moving unless I want her to.

Really easy to do...mainly you just need some 4MM washers and a drill. I think I used 3/16" to drill out the metal inserts, then 1/4" to remake the holes as the directions say.

I have very little mechanical experience and I did okay. Whatever you do DONT USE A PUNCH! I broke the bottom hole on mine I put it back on the car and it works fine with just the top screw holding it. It was easier to install too, since I didnt have to screw with the t-stat. I ended up not adjusting mine after I broke it, seeing as a new one is like $35. Maybe I will try again later, and not use a punch...

Well, on my flaky POS TPS, I finally got a reading. Before it flaked out again, it was .43 and 4.24.

I had a theory and tested it. Figured it was probably time to clean my TB and IAC again, so I got a new gasket when I picked up my TPS. Pulled the TB. Makes it much easier to deal with. My theory on the Series 1 panned out. No need to drill. Just press out the steel sleeve inserts, and you have enough. At least I did. I twisted the TPS all the way one direction and tightened it, and the numbers came in .68/4.35, so I'm leaving it right there.

I also took the time to insulate (wrap) my trans temp sending unit from the crossover pipe, and fabbed another crossover heat shield to wrap all the way down towards the trans to protect the trans temp sensor. I think I've been getting false hot readings because the crossover is just an inch or less away.

Putting it all back together now.....

Ok so my car seems to shift @ 40, is that a lil low? Possibly from the TPS?
