Default Tell Me If I'm Crazy

i may be crazy on this one but i really want a manual transmission in my bonneville. now hear me out. i would like to get a corvette or camaro transmission and drop it in there i understand this would cost alot and if i did this it would definitely be a longer term project but i dont want to mess up my bonne. would this be possible considering corvette and camaros are both GM cars and hopefully the transmission would be compatible. this along with some other changes would make my car perfect for me... so now tell me, am i crazy? :?

To use a Camaro or Vette tranny, you would have to make your car RWD.

There are other FWD manual transmission options.

There are a few of us who are talking about this. I am sure someone will chime in shortly with specifics.

My friend had a lumina with the 3.4L and standard tranmission. This was a rare option for that car. He had a lot of trouble with the transmission case cracking and then the clutch wouldn't work. I'm not sure if the 3.4 and 3.8 have the same bellhousing bolt pattern, chances are they do.

GM has always been wimpy about putting manual trannies with their larger engines.
You might, with great effort and expense, be able to cobble together the 3.8 with a manual tranny that was designed for a 4 cyl. or smaller displacement V6, but long term the tranny probably wouldn't last long with the increased torque and HP and heavier vehicle.
