I chatted with a fellow co worker today on the subject of high stall, he said in all the years he has been doing parts 25+ he hasnt seen someone run a high stall and NOT have issues when it comes to street drivability, main issue, heat, burning fluid and it migrates quick.
You practically need to drive around in second gear he said, so bye bye mileage lol
For a track hound, id run a 3500 stall if it was ONLY on the track, even so, the difference? Worth the cash?
Not sure.

Are we talking 2800-3000?
And will it have the TCC lock up function?
For you guys that have a 65-E that already have a stall how has this affected your overall Transmission temps?

There'* no doubt, the higher the TC stall the higher the heat. The tranny cooler that is part of the radiator will be insufficient for higher stall speed TCs, an auxilary cooler is an absolute must. The leading cause of tranny failure is excess heat (but certainly not the only one).
Cheers,
The trans cooler in the radiator is actually more of a trans fluid 'pre-heater' than anything. It really has no cooling capability.
Cut one open to see what it'* like. It'* a single tube about 6" long at the most. It'* important to note that the passages inside this tube are VERY small. Everyone that'* ever had any trans failure involving debris of any kind should bypass this and go to an external cooler to insure proper flow.
