Default Suspension Parts Ive Been Working On.

Havent been around much lately. Working over 45hrs a week at work and with xmas coming up and working on these havent left too much time to post on multiple forums.

Been working on tubular arms for the rear suspension of W-bodies. Also doing front coilover mounts and then rear coilover mounts shortly there-after and come spring/summer, tubular front control arms will be getting made along with super beefy strut tower braces.

Now for some good ol pics!!

On the car for reference and pics, not bolted down. Needs spacers in the form of simple washers. I didnt have any laying around in the right sizes. Yup, im using Gen 2 rear knuckles and brakes on my Gen 1.

Front coilover mounts im making. 1/8" steel plate, spherical bearing, poly spring isolators. Hardcore street performance! I need to drop them off to my welded once I have my 2nd set of plates trimmed and drilled.

Bob... I like it. Although you have no bushing at all to absorb hits, that I wonder about.

Since you have Gen 2 knuckles, have you considered skipping the horrible e brake setup with the ring inside (that makes bearing swapping a pain) and doing a 04-08 rear caliper? The ebrake cable goes to the caliper instead of the inner ring. I went this way on my Regal.

Im going for ultimate performance, not caddy ride lol.

Using a proper spring rate and strut insert (in my case I will be using double adjustable Konis) will really smooth out the ride and make it a comfy DD.

I currently have GMPP tubular trailing arms in the rear, and Gen 2 lateral links with poly bushings put in them. Not a fan of it due to the stiff poly causes some bind through the suspension travel due to the inherent geometry. The heim joints allow for ultra smooth movement through the suspension travel and make things more positive and stable.

I did just the basic Gen 2 rear knuckle and brake upgrade. Im even stll using the junkyard pads and rotors cause they were in good shape. I will eventually step up the rear brakes to 12" GXP setup, but not on this car as this car is rusting more than I want to see on a car to be the project car. So this car is just the guinnea pig to work out the chassis the way I want.

As you can tell, I didnt even install the rear parking drum setup as they were shot on the knuckle assemblies I got from the JY (both knuckles, with hub, rotor, caliper and such only cost $60)

I am waiting eagerly to see the result! Good work so far, and I hope it all goes to a really awesome W-body in the end. Have you been looking around yet for newer/other W-bodies?

Where did you get the carrier of the spherical bearing with the lock ring? And which bearing are you using? Teflon lined?

I'm looking to make new top mounts for my coilovers and this would help me out a ton.

The spherical bearing cups and lockrings I get from England actually Couldnt find any sellers in the US with what I needed.

The mount bearings, I have one set teflon lines, and the other isnt but has a grease channel.

I didnt get teflon lined rod ends as the standard rod ends have a much greater load rating than the same ones with teflon. I could go with QA1 XM rod ends, but I made these with standard rod ends to keep cost down.


I havent been looking for another w-bodies that will be getting all the goodies, cause Ill be using my 92 CS convertible
