Turbo is kinda unknown to the world of H-body. We shall see.

Okay, so before I get **** on, I don't own a bonneville, but I own an H-body and I am way less supported then you guys... Olds LSS...

Okay, so the turbo vs supercharger debate.

Personally, I am a bigger fan of turbos then superchargers. You want to know why? With a turbo, I can EASILY set the boost real low for normal driving and fuel economy, while with a supercharger, this requires me getting out and changing the pulley. From my extensive research, and use, turbos tend to be MUCH better at making a lot of power. Want that low end grunt of a supercharger? Go twin turbo. If you want to see a sick turbo setup on a 3800 series, check out http://www.intense-racing.com/

Yup. We know that car. Scott'* a member here.

Turtle_sse is also running a turbo in a 92 SSE with a transplanted L36. Heavily worked over.

There is an option coming for the supercharged (series 2 only) so that pulley swaps aren't necessary for normal vs. performance driving. But that'* another story.

Yeah, i just figured that out, after having searched through the forums a little deeper. One hell of a car he has there.

I have thought about the whole idea of being able to electronically alter the boost from the supercharger. Installing some sort of blow-off valve would work. I believe the newer (series II) has this already, but it mainly works while on the highway cruising. It would just leak boost, so you could run say 6psi when you want fuel efficiency, and run 12+psi (by not leaking boost) when you wanted the power.

OK... I finally understand more about TC vs SC now thanks to reading those articles...

I think next summer I'll install twin turbo'* in my car, along with a supercharger with a small pulley. But only after I've beefed up my tranny, or dropped in a new one.
How much HP/Torque do you think that would yield?

(But first I've gotta win the local lotto)

Thats a loaded question. You could make anything from another 40hp to another 800hp. It all depends how far you want to go with the turbos. The hardest (READ: expensive) aspect of turbo'ing a car is the exhaust manifold. The one thing you will have to worry about, aside from the tranny, is the bottom end of the engine. You can't really push too much boost if you plan on keeping the crank attached to the engine. I like what the guy with tge GTP (scott i think) did... He used a GTP engine, and deleted the supercharger. I would be interested to see how much he paid for the exhaust manifold...

Default hmm

For a vehicle like my work truck (03 duramax) the turbo is great because it the engine is almost always reving at the same rpm.

For a car a turbo wouldnt be as good as a supercharger, with a turbo you have a lag because you need to rev up the engine to get exhaust gases to exit faster and to get more pressure to turn the turbo which speeds up the air going into the intake, so for accel its very bad unless you have the ability to pop the clutch at 3k but a supercharger runs with your other stuff (a/c compresser. altator. ect) they hog power from the engine because it takes abit of force to turn the pullys on some of those. on newer cars if you turn the wheel (using your powersteering pump) the computer will tell the a/c compresser to turn off
